End of season report: Marcus takes final No. 1 in ratings
It's no surprise that X was "most composed". He's his father's child - he has been raised to only be concerned with his personal benefit. He was just passing time in Lawrence this year.
The biggest improvements which can happen for next year's team is for he and his brother to go on to their "promised land" and for the team's personal cancer, Tyshawn Taylor, to go away. I don't care where he goes - just away. His antics have caused disruption all year long, and have demanded an unbalanced share of the coaches' and team's attention. He can't bear for the spotlight to be away from himself for too long, and that's not a good thing for a team's chemistry. Not a good thing at all.

KU back to No. 1 in both polls
And don't forget the Defending National Champions - who not only are not ranked - they didn't get a single vote! Gotta love it...

Free throws didn't cost Kansas the 2003 NCAA championship: A convincing argument
The best comment in here refers to Roy "turning players into head cases". That's absolutely what he does - he recruits good guys who want desperately to please. Then, when it's a big game, the COACH chokes, and it's obvious to the world that he's scared silly and doubting everything and everybody. It was painfully obvious in the 1997 game - a game featuring no less than SIX guys drafted to play in the NBA - one of them as high as # 3 (and it was that same Raef who whiffed a 3 that would have tied it at the end of regulation) - that Roy was playing not to lose. Jacque Vaughn picked up the vibe and played the same way. Too late, Roy finally put in Ryan Robertson who went flat-out and nearly saved the game. Then came the 2003 debacle. And, by the way, 2002 was no bunch of fun, either. Roy simply doesn't come through when the going is hard. He won his first ring with someone else's recruits, and last year the pressure was off. AND he had Psycho T - who listened to his own inner voices, not the choke artist.

Kansas’ Aldrich joins elite company
Soobawls' major is junior high study hall. He's studying a way to ever grow up. He obviously doesn't HAVE a degree, or he'd understand that the ones he cites as being "pseudo" are actually pretty demanding. Not many easy A's there. Oh, yeah - and the letter on his cap is L...standing, of course, for "Loser".

Do you like the look of the new KU football uniforms?
It's a cheap stunt, and seems a bit disrespectful. The University - and Turner Gill - are making big bucks on the sweat and toil put out by the players. The least you could do is give them the satisfaction of having their name on the dang shirt! If they forget the "team" concept, there's another VERY effective weapon at your disposal. Bench 'em! I'm betting that's a MUCH more useful tool to get the desired result.

Turgeon dejected
That would be a tough call, KULA. If Self left, do we want Turgeon or Manning? I'm glad I wouldn't be the guy who had to pick. Turgeon is looking to me like the newest great branch of the Kansas coaching tree. Rock Chalk, Turg. Great job.

Jayhawks survive another close call
What? Is this now the "KU Shaw Blog"??? I don't think so! WAY too wordy - didn't read beyond the first paragraph. I've read your stuff before, when it was of reasonable length.

Kentucky basketball victories tainted
Chuckberry, we spend a lot of time reminding the basketball world that one of "our own" - Adolph Rupp - was the driving force of Kentucky basketball. Therefore, it follows that this story fits very tidily into a "Kansas slant".
Aside from that - get over yourself.

Gary Bedore’s Kansas basketball notebook
The altitude definitely IS a factor in Boulder. In college, I was in marching band. We went out there to perform at a game, and when we started practice the day before I felt like there was no air to be found anywhere around me. None. It was a daunting experience. How our guys had the fortitude to turn it up a notch in overtime the way they did, I can't imagine. We should all be impressed.

Ol’ Roy’s boys tanking
I was thinking about ol' Roy Saturday night, looking at Bill Self in the Jayhawks' huddle. Bill was full of instructions - did some yelling, too - but at the end, each time - he smiled. Later, it was reported that he kept urging the players to "enjoy this - it doesn't get any better". What would Roy be doing? Looking like he was facing the firing squad and forgot his bulletproof vest at home. He would have choked, like he did so many times over the years. Thanks again, Roy - I'm SO pleased with our upgrade! HE is a winner.
